We were invited to do a hog roast for Travis Perkins one of the largest building materials and tools supplier and hire company in the South East.

The Sales Manager had invited in a number of other specialist tool company’s and Machine suppliers for demonstrations for Builders coming into the company on that Friday.

The bonus for the Customers and the Travis Perkins staff was that they had delicious golden crackling and hog roasted free range pig cooked to perfection by Luba and myself.

We served food from 11.am until 4pm but unfortunately the only thing going against us was the heavy rain that didn’t stop all day. Our Client Travis Perkins were really happy with our service and drivers from other depots were asking if we could do the same at there location.

The area manager came down later in the morning and we talked through a number of options like a hog roast breakfast of hand made sausages, and egg baps or bacon and egg baps, leading into lunchtime with a hog roast bap.

This type of catering is what we pride ourselves in providing a customer a catering package to cover the event they are hosting.

I am sure that we will be back again to Travis Perkins Aylesford. Don’t forget if your going to do a building project this is the place to get your supplies.

Amanda and Christopher Wedding

The Carmelite Friary founded in 1242 was dispossessed at the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII and was re-established in 1949. Before 1930 the site was owned by a family and used for scouting activities and Lord Baden Powell has also visited the site.  After a large fire in 1930 the Carmelite Friars bought back the site and set about rebuilding the main Abbey building. Since the rebuild of the Abbey the site is now an important pilgrimage centre with lovely grounds and picnic areas.

It is also home to the North Barn a Fully restored 17th century Barn located in the barns complex by the entrance to The Friars. The North Barn is available for business conferences or functions such as weddings, private parties, receptions and exhibitions. There is a full catering Marquee attached to the south side of the Barn.

We were delighted to do the wedding catering for Amanda and Christopher on the 18th May 2013 a hog roast afternoon reception meal with roasted potatoes, and hot seasonal vegetables and then in the evening a lovely evening Hog roast themed BBQ.

Guests gather wedding celebrations begin as friends and family come together. Friends and family
gather from across the UK as well as Poland for the wedding of this wonderful couple

This wedding would include 190 guests so in light of the large numbers planning started early. We arranged a home consultation visit and together with the happy couple the planning started. Together we created their wedding plan from the evening before the special day until the last minute when guests left.

The couple had already booked their venue and together we planned menus in addition we would furnish the venue with tables, chairs and crockery.

Plan completed in addition a step by step itinerary of the day for the front of house team to provide full  management on the day. Wedding Reception package completed including the hire of glass ware, tables and chairs, decorations, cutlery and crockery.

Hog Roast Catering

Chef and his catering team arrived at the venue with enough time to slow cook the hog roast in our own marinade.

Slow cooking as well as regular basting gives the hog roast that distinctive succulent flavour. In addition the team prepared a range of our own canapés as well as the salad dishes.

With our own recipe garlic roasted, delicious, and finally dessert of white chocolate and raspberry brûlée cheese cake to finish the feast.

The barbecue was ready to cook 180 sausages including pork and sage, lamb and mint and the slightly spicy hot rod. In addition chef cooked beef burgers, cajun and BBQ chickens with peppers and onions, and roasted halloumi cheese.

Wedding and Reception

Guests gather wedding celebrations begin, and waiting at door the front of house team ready with drinks. Waiting for the Bride and Groom, the team circulated with trays of canapés and welcomed the guests. The happy couple arrived and greeted their guests with glasses of champagne. The food was ready, family friends, the bride and groom took their places at table, our team served the main course.

The food was delicious and the white chocolate and raspberry brûlée cheese cake add sweetness to
a truly sweet event. Later that evening an ice cream van had been hired to attend we were treated to an ice cream.  It was a privilege to work for such a wonderful couple. Succulent Pig staff would like to wish them a long and happy life together.

Cajun chicken BBQ chicken halloumi with peppers and onions loose leaf and coleslaw. In total we fed about 500 people

This weekend Spitting Pig Kent catered for a wedding at Swarling Manor, Petham.
Months of working with the Bride and Groom and close Family resulted in a lovely day although we started working in a thunderstorm!

The agreed menu was a picnic in the lower gardens of the beautiful Swarling Manor consisting of 3 different pates selection of hand made cheeses from the Canterbury cheese makers and a home made chutneys from the bride and groom, Hand made pickle onions and piccalilli and an assortment of breads including jalapeno and sunflower and cranberry wholenut tiger loaf French stick, bloomer and whole grain.

The sun had come out and reception drinks were served alongside the picnic everyone relaxed and it took some encouragement to get them to eventually come to the converted barn and attached marquee for there reception meal of hog roast.

Salmon steaks wrapped in filo parcels cooked in white wine lemon and dill sauce served with roasted new potatoes, greek salad, herb tomato with mozzarella and a creamy handmade coleslaw.

Toasts and a speeches were made, then wedding cake of vanilla and strawberry topped cheese cake together served with white chocolate and raspberry cheese cake, teas and coffees.

This resulted in everyone being happy and dancing the night away to a five piece jazz band.
We have won the attention of the owners of the venue and potential customers being shown around before the guests arrived back were marvelled at the way we were producing the slated cheeses and pate loafs whilst the pig was being cooked with its head on.

Marie Taylor reached the big 40 and decided that she would have a hog roast to celebrate her birthday. Although she had only a small back garden and was concerned whether we could cater for her event we reassured her that we would either cook in the rear garden if enough room or cook out the front and then if needs be serve out the back only.

The event was in Lordswood and once the home of the Royal Navy. Marie’s chef was Stephen and on arrival it was soon decided that the whole hog, cooking and serving would be done from the front garden with guests quite happy to come out the front door for their food. Stephen stated it was the coldest of days and he was in the shade so the white frost stayed throughout the day, at least the hog roast Lordswood machine warmed the gazebo he was working under. What a better way to celebrate your 40th birthday and to make it such a special day Marie’s Boyfriend proposed to her in front of all the guests and she accepted.

I received the following email the following day already putting him on alert that Spitting Pig Kent’s catering services would be considered for the Wedding in November 2015.

So once again Spitting Pig Kent has managed to show it can set up in the smallest of places and serve in sometimes not the normal of places but still make all the guests happy with the service of food.

Owls Hatch solar Farm on one of the windiest days of the year we are battened down cooking a large hog roast pig at the Britsh Solar Renewables, Owls Hatch Solar Farm, Owls Hatch Road Herne Bay Kent.

The hog roast is to celebrate the end of the contract and all the workers have been walking by wishing the pig was already cooked.
Sage and onion stuffing is made and fresh rolls waiting to be cut.
With over 100 workers to be fed we are pleased that at least the sun is shining.

Succulent Pig cater at Johnson Matthey summer fun day in Enfield from early morning to late evening. Johnson Matthey is a British multinational speciality chemicals and sustainable technologies company.

A wonderful day at the ‘Summer Fun Day’ enjoyed by all and a long day of cooking, serving and making sure our customers were all happy with the menu. Everything was eaten and people commented on the food when they came back for second helpings.

Richmond School Sheerness booked Succulent Pig for there teachers annual Christmas party.

Richmond School were so pleased with the success of last years whole hog roasted pig with all the trimmings and desserts they booked booking Succulent Pig to cater for their Summer BBQ and their Xmas party at the same time. This end of year Christmas party will be a three meat slow roast of Turkey, pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, boned and rolled leg of lamb, sage onion stuffing and apple sauce. Plus a boned and rolled leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic mint sauce followed with roasted potatoes, parsnip roasted in honey, accompanying veg and chefs gravy. Now there’s a Christmas feast.

Dessert will be a delicious white chocolate raspberry brûlée cheesecake or hot Bramley apple pie and custard.
