A glorious day for a wedding at Plaxtol Cricket Club, Sevenoaks
Setting up for the Wedding day Hog Roast Plaxtol Cricket Club, Sevenoaks. On the last day of April, we arrived at Plaxtol Cricket Club near Sevenoaks for the wedding of a wonderful couple Hannah and Sam. Laid out in the grounds was an unusual Tepee Marquee and what an intriguing looking venue.
The Tepee Marquee was set in landscape surrounded by grass and beautiful floral arrangements. Inside the tepee was lavishly decorated together with green and white flowers. In addition long wooden tables waited for the 100 guests to sit and a featured fire pit area surrounded by bean bags with sofas perfect for relaxing and enjoying the moment before heading off to the bar or dance floor. Completing the space were tables for serving food as well as a special dessert area.
Our Succulent pig Caterers Sevenoaks Chefs Anthony and Stephen arrived early to set up their gazebo and hog roast machine, along with the serving tables and their chafing dishes inside the Tepee ready to serve their fabulous menus.

Wedding Menu and preparation
Wedding Day Hog Roast Plaxtol Cricket Club, Sevenoaks, prioritising the menu
We prepared our hog and at the same time commenced slow roasting to ensure that the pork was succulent and tasty. It would be served with the crispy crackling, as well as freshly prepared sage and onion stuffing with apple sauce.
Preparing the Canapés
Slow roasting the hog roast was underway, we were able to share responsibilities for preparing the canapés with side dishes, ready to serve at the same time as specified by the Bride and Groom.
Stephen and his assistant prepared the cold canapés included Avocado, mozzarella, cherry tomato crostini, duck pate and orange on toast.
The hot canapés were prepared by Anthony, he roasted the medium rare roast beef for the Yorkshire puddings with
- Beef & horseradish,
- Stuffed mushroom and
- avocado & mozzarella.
Moving on to the BBQ roasting chicken, as well as halloumi, beef burgers and four variety of sausages. In addition we provided two vegetarian options of a vegetarian quiche and root roasted spicy vegetables with rice stuffed peppers.
Organising the Team
Anthony recognizes its equally important that the team know the timings for service and were clear on their roles and responsibilities.
The team once organised took up their roles and went to work to ensure that the Bride and Groom and their guests would have a wonderful time with their well-executed smooth and efficient service.
Succulent Pig thank the couple who took the time to let us have such positive feedback. We love to hear about how great the Chef and his team were as well as the tasty food.
