Hog Roast Kent Catering Services
Kent is a beautiful county and has some spectacular sites, beautiful hotels and some great outside spaces, this reflects that Kent is called the Garden of England. Surrounded as we are by orchards and farms and the beautiful South Downs as well as historical villages, towns and the city of Canterbury. Many of the villages are mentioned in the Doomsday Book, have archaeological evidence of the many and varied history reflected in the history of the United Kingdom. The first people to cross from France and first occupied the land, the many invasions from the Romans, the Danes, the Anglo-Saxons the Normans all have contributed to the culture and development of Kent.
Kent has been the centre of pilgrimage and visitors and remains as popular today. Visitors to Dover have access to Dover Castle thought to have been started back in the stone age time with evidence of fortification and then gradually expanded and rebuilt until Henry II completed the castle and it remains a stunning fortification added to during the wars with tunnels and guns when the threats of war drew closer towards this closest point to France.
Just along the road at Folkestone are Napoleonic fortifications and the whole coast along the South East are Cinque Ports created during the threat of Napoleonic War coming to the coasts of Britain. Rye and Pevensey have stunning sandy beaches and dunes as well as the nature reserve. The long history of the Romney Marshes and the harbours filled with fishing vessels and the occasional opportunity for smuggling.
There are fine examples of castles all along the pilgrim way sitting on the River Medway is the beautiful Rochester Castle. Towards Tunbridge Wells there is High Rocks with evidence of the stone age man living and working there.
