Last Years News 2015

The year of 2014 went very quickly for A. Round Hog Roasts and Catering Services Ltd.  A.Round Hog Roasts and Catering Ltd started the year with an Easter Festival hog roast at the Brogdale Market Place from Good Friday through till the Easter Monday. This was marketed by KMFM.   We had a beautiful wedding table set up with our fine crockery and cutlery. We also had promotional pictures of some of our weddings we had catered for and promotional information about some of our suppliers we use.  This advertising alongside our hog roasting outside the Courtyard Restaurant really helped our wedding bookings and hog roast bookings for the coming summer.  We had our busiest summer so far and for the August bank holiday we did a combination of hog roast catering events and weddings. As well as  machine hires for the people who felt confident enough to roast a pig for themselves, totaling 14 pigs.

We have improved our menus to include hog roast themed BBQ’s, where we can provide a whole pig or half a pig, together with hand made sausages, and handmade beef burgers. Chefs own Jerk chicken with peppers and onions, chefs own BBQ chicken with peppers and onions, and roasted Haloumi cheese dusted with olive oil and Moroccan spices, peppers and onion.  Our three meat slow roast menu has taken off and we have a combination of styles of cooking the meat.  We can offer you the slow roasted shoulders of pork which is then Pulled, and mixed with Tiddley Pomme Wooley Pig Cider and BBQ sauce.  Roasted lamb to pink and roasted topside of beef to pink with yorkshire puddings.

We also offer our chefs handmade Porchetta. The traditional porchetta evolved in Italy where the butchers debone a whole pig and then fill it with an apricot and fennel and herb filling.

Our menu  also offers a boned leg pork or boned shoulder of pork filled with our own made porchetta filling. We will make them to order depending on how many guests you have.

The weddings we did during the year of 2014 grew in both number, size and elegance, we had the pleasure of catering for a large wedding group of 150 people in the fields of Biddenden where a Tee pee style marquee was erected.

These new style marquees are now becoming the fashion and again at another hog roasting post wedding event we had a Tee pee marquee in the back ground at a Hog Roast in Littlestone.

We pride ourselves that we can now cater at some of the most prestigious and beautiful wedding locations; to name but a few; Goodnestone Park Gardens, The Barn Stansted, Aylesford Priory, Hayne Barn Hythe, Bickley Manor Hotel, Keston Village Hall, Eridge Village Hall, Alexandra Gardens Faversham, Oakwood Maidstone, Littlestone Golf course, Horseshoes Barn Biddenden, Swarling Manor Petham Kent.

During 2014 we also enjoyed our Festival Catering outside the Courtyard Restaurant situated at Brogdale Market Place, Faversham, Kent for the Cherry Festival , Cider Festival, and for the Apple Festival .  We also did a Christmas weekend special in Faversham town centre located outside the Alexandra Centre, Preston Street, Faversham Kent and also the outside the Guildhall, the Market Place, Faversham, Kent.

Over the Christmas period we did some lovely family hog roast events for both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.  We also catered for Christmas corporate events, where our winter hog roasts really do make the occasion special. Our winter warmer hog roasts include; roasted new potatoes, roasted parsnips with honey glaze, and our hot seasonal vegetables and chefs Gluten free gravy.

With the New Year it was a time for A. Round Hog Roasts and Catering Services Ltd to look to how it would promote itself for the future.  The decision was made to launch its own Brand name to take it forward for years to come.

So we launched as SUCCULENT PIG and with a new brand name came the launch of its new Website.  

Other news for 2015 was that one of the reasons for our success is our working partnership with the Butcher of Brogdale. They has been awarded by the Kent Life Kent on Sunday Food and Drink Awards 2014. The winner and Title BUTCHER OF THE YEAR BROGDALE BUTCHERS.

2015 is going to be a exciting and exhilarating year. Succulent Pig have sponsored the Faversham Transport Weekend 2015 being held in the Town centre on the Weekend of 16th and 17th May and we will be having a double stand outside the Guildhall on both days.

We were again this year outside the Courtyard Restaurant for the Easter Weekend at Brogdale. Succulent Pig are also hoping to do some HOGwart days where we will be working with the Faversham miniature railway and users of the railway,  a combined train ride ticket and hog roast and/or hog roast sausage when passengers get off the train where Succulent Pig will be set up on the edge of the platform.  Watch our blog page for when this will be coming.

Succulent Pig have been invited to be the Hog Roast Caterers at the Folkestone Trawler Race and Fun weekend on the 1st and 2nd of August and we look forward to feeding everyone in what used to be our home town and where we started the business before moving to Faversham.

Succulent Pig have a lot of Weddings again booked this year, venues to name a few, Red Barn Folkestone, Hayne Barn Hythe, The Barn Stansted, The Barn at Aylesford Priory, The Barn at Aldington. The Great Barn Doddington.

Succulent Pig will be outside the Alexandra centre for the Magna Carta Weekend the 13th and 14th of June. We look forwards to seeing you there.

Festivals at Brogdale this year will be the Cider Festival on the 29th and 30th August and Succulent Pig will be outside the courtyard restaurant and for the Apple Festival on the 17th and 18th October and again we will be outside the Courtyard Restaurant.

At Christmas Succulent Pig will be either outside the Courtyard Restaurant or the Butcher of Brogdale’s shop, situated at the Brogdale Market Place.

More news for 2015 is that once again Succulent Pig have been inspected by the Environmental Office and have been award the top award of 5 by the Health and Safety office maintaining the standards that we achieved from the start of the business.  It was pleasing to get this award as this year we invested in new better duty Gazebos and we also have our new Event and Wedding Hog Roast machine the Platinum which allows us to do either two pigs, a pig and a lamb or a pig and a BBQ at the same time.

Succulent Pig are having the our red van marked up with the new brand name and it will not be long before you see it as we drive around Kent on our busy schedule.

We, at Succulent Pig,  have written to all our previous customers and we are offering Discounts with the leaflets with codes on.  Make sure you look out for these.

At the Faversham Transport Weekend we will have a leaflet with a discount marked on it.

Succulent Pig have already got a number of weekends fully booked for 2015 and are already taking bookings for 2016 and 2017.

Succulent Pig have plenty of machines available for the “Do it yourself” option where we deliver you a home hire hog roast machine, and a pig and gas bottle and a probe. We give you a demonstration on how to use the machine and advise on how to carve. We will give you a support contact number. You can book the “do it yourself” version and a pig from £295 and a hog master hog roast machine from £150 or £180 with a gas bottle.  Delivery charges may apply depending on distance.
