A.Round Hog Roasts 2015 Hog Roast Season to remember.
The 2015 Hog Roast season for A.Round Hog Roasts and Catering Services Ltd has been a very eventful year.
The year started out with a very nice Corporate event for First Fence for the opening of their Depot in Dartford. The day included a Breakfast, followed by a Hog Roast Lunch and then in the afternoon a Vintage cream tea and cakes. So successful was the event that First Fence then invited us to go to Bristol for the opening of another new depot.
We continued throughout 2015 to cater for Redrow Housing at their show rooms. We were invited to cater our delicious hog roasts outside their show rooms at Halling, Shadoxhurst, Redrow South East, The Sycamores, Pease Pottage, Saxon Woods Ashford and Morden. Our team received a lot of great feedback and compliments.
At Easter once again we were cooking our Hog Roast at Brogdale Market Place, Brogdale Road, Faversham ME13 8XZ where we produced once again our succulent hog roast of a whole pig and spring lamb. Customers were queuing to ensure they didn’t miss this tasty treat.
We really enjoy catering for Weddings and early Spring Weddings are becoming popular with wedding receptions taking place at the Phoenix Railway club at Crabble Dover and Cuxton Village Hall.
Launch of our New Trading Name Succulent Pig
Our biggest news for 2015 was to announce the changes to A.Round Hog Roasts and Catering Services Ltd, was the launch of our new trading name Succulent Pig.
Lots of our customers have been commenting on the taste and succulence of the pork we were serving. Our fruit fed pork supplied by the Butcher of Brogdale has a consistent taste and flavour and creates our very popular pulled pork and our other Hog Roast special recipes. This has prompted Anthony to purchase the National Brand name of Succulent Pig hence the name change.
To officially launch the new brand name, the opportunity of Sponsoring the Faversham Transport Weekend came about after A.Round Hog Roast and Catering Services, joined the Faversham Business Partnership. We made sure that all our advertising was marked up as Succulent Pig, and we managed to obtain a prize location shop next to a then empty premises but now occupied by the YMCA Charity shop in Market Square Faversham. We were there for two days and cooked over 6 pigs and our special festival sausages, we had two very popular flavours, pork and sage and hot rod, (with a chili flavour) We had a really successful weekend and as a result of this success was offered the location outside the Alexandra Centre for the Hop Festival later in the year in September.
Introducing our new Menu Range for Weddings and Events
With the Car Show at the beginning of May passing our work load increased with introductions of our Succulent Pig Menus, this included our range of Wedding Menus along with antipasti picnic starters, Ploughman picnics, and a new range of picnic style canapés.
We are constantly looking at ways to improve our hog roasts with the introduction of our Hog Roast themed BBQ’s using Pulled pork with cider and BBQ, four flavours of hand-
We have made sure that our Succulent Pig Winter and Christmas Hog roasting menus and party menus were listed on to the website. We also have a team of Chefs that work all year round and adapt our catering for those who would like Hog Roast or Barbecue or a combination of both. We have all the equipment to cater both Winter and Summer and meet all our customers outside catering requirements.
Approved Suppliers for Succulent Pig Weddings
We have prided ourselves over the past four years to build good working partnerships with a number of other approved suppliers. We are thrilled to be able to include them in our Bespoke Wedding package option. We have been impressed by the consistent standards of our partners Marquee Hire who offer good quality Marquees at competitive rates as well as At your Service based in Orpington, Kent 1st Setting at Folkestone and Janet’s Plate Hire who can provide everything you need for your table including crockery, cutlery, glassware and table linen. All details of our approved Profession partnerships are listed on our Website.
Health & Safety
We take Health & Safety seriously so all our machines are gas checked and serviced every year with a yearly gas certificate issued by Mark from Gasco Folkestone.
Our wedding booking for 2015 increased and our Menus have become much more inventive, working with our clients to try and give them what they want within a budget that our clients have set.
TiPis’ and Weddings
During the year we saw an increase in the TiPi Wedding Marquees and we experienced two very different weddings with Tipis’, one was at Thurnham Keep, they are now running a TiPi hire business, the other was in East Sussex for Two London doctors. We wish our lovely couples a long and happy life together and you never know we may be invited back for their first anniversary!
During the year we were asked to do an afternoon vintage cream, including a variety of sandwiches, cakes and scones with cream and jam followed by an evening hog roast. This has proved so popular that we have developed a new Vintage Cream Tea menu.
We now are pleased to offer our Vintage Cream teas with sandwiches and scones, tea and coffee as a new wedding menu, followed by an evening Hog Roast with Salads. You can find it on the website as Wedding Menu 6. Since the launch we already have bookings for four more events.
Stepping in and Helping Out
Succulent Pig, (A.Round Hog Roasts and Catering Services Ltd), works very closely with the Butcher of Brogdale, because of our close working relationship as a Hog Roast company. We have been able to offer hog roasts to customers at very short notice. We have come to the rescue of some customers let down at the last minute during last summer’s season, and as a result, impressed by our professional service we have a lot of repeat customers.
Port Lympne Hotel and Wild Life Park
We have been delighted to be catering hog roasts for Port Lympne Hotel at the Port Lympne Wild Life Park. The Port Lympne Hotel was to at the end of the year voted Wedding Venue of the Year 2015 and we are proud be to be continuing our relationship with this unusual venue and offer our congratulations to all the staff who worked so hard to achieve this.
B Sky B and Mace Construction
In August we were asked by B Sky B at their Head office near Twickenham to do a summer BBQ for 400 hungry Construction workers and Senior management working on the new B Sky B headquarters being built by MACE Construction. It was a great event with a large team of our chefs working to serve people quickly, after all once they got the aroma of roasting pork and crispy crackling, they were keen to sample the food.
The event went so well that we were invited back again in December to cater for their Christmas party of Hog Roasted Turkey and all the trimmings served with a range of seasonal cooked vegetables. Another satisfying and enjoyable event.
Faversham Hop Festival
At the beginning of September, we had the annual Faversham Hop Festival and we had the proud position of being outside the Alexandra Centre and in the gardens of the Alexandra centre where there were over 20 bands playing over the two days. This was the first time of doing the Hop Festival and we decided to sell, hog roasted whole pork, pulled pork with cider and BBQ and also our two flavours of popular festival sausages. We sold out each day and we cooked 14 whole pigs for the event. We were told that our queue for the hog roast reached right down the road and all the cafes were empty.
Moving to our New Home
A. Round Hog Roasts and Catering Services Ltd have enjoyed the convenience of working alongside the Butcher of Brogdale as we had our storage unit at Brogdale Farm. As our Catering side of the business has grown it has become clear that we needed to find bigger space and we had to move. We have been lucky enough to find a new location at Barton Business Park in Canterbury.
The month of September was a difficult time as we not only prepared to move but we also continued to provide first class services and food to our clients during this time.
The move was successful and we thank our team for all their hard work in ensuring a smooth transition. We now have more space and have included a meat fridge for our supplies to ensure freshness. We still retain our close relationship with the Butcher of Brogdale, our main meat supplier of choice.
Our new unit includes an office and is in a good location covered by full CCTV surveillance and overnight security guards who sit in an office next door to us. All this support gives us a strong sense of security and we look forward to a long and happy relationship.
